Lake Mead in Nevada has been suffering from a historic drought along with the rest of the Western United States. Historically, the reservoir has provided more than 90 percent of Las Vegas’ drinking water. Federal water managers are now projecting that the lake won’t have enough water to fulfill deliveries to Nevada and Arizona. Despite this, Las Vegas's metropolitan footprint continues to expand with additional golf courses, shopping centers and housing developments.
